Literacy Essays
Here you will find the essays I wrote for my English class. Enjoy.
Narrative Essay - The Love of a Mother |
I thought this essay was the easiest to write and my favorite. I knew the answer and i didn't have to think too hard about the person who taught me how to read. Writing about myself or my life is easy because i know the truth. I don't have to conduct research to help provide support or detail. Its all in my head. All i have to do is put the words in my mind on paper. I think it's so ironic that i love to read, but i hate having to write essays or stories. I would rather read another person's work. I have always loved to read, and i can thank my mother for that. However she has taught me more than to just read. she has shaped me into the woman i am today. I am very thankful for her.
Compare and Contrast - America In The World Wars
One of my favorite high school classes was u.s history. I especially loved when we talked about wWI, WWII and the vietnam war. That is why i chose to write my topic on the two world wars. i already knew some of the information that i included in my essay. Not everyone knows the causes of WWI and WWII by heart, so i disliked having to research and cite the stuff i already knew. However, i thought it was still awesome that i could right about something that i enjoy.
Cause and Effect - The Effects of Chronic Stress
unlike the compare and contrast essay, i did not choose a topic that i already knew about. As a person who stresses about many things, i decided to write about the effects of stress on a person. I guess i really wanted to find out if i need to get medical help. Finding information for this essay was a definite eye opener. I learned many things, especially that i need to find a way to cope with my stress if i want to continue being healthy. Writing this essay was very informative for me and a Learning experience on how to conduct in depth research.
Persuasive Essay - Should Schools Be Allowed to Conduct Student Searches?
This was my least favorite essay from the whole Semester. However, i did enjoy trying to prove a point. This essay did display my true opinion as to why i think that schools should conduct student searches under reasonable doubt. I thought it would be easy to write until ms. Lashell talked about the fallacies and booby traps that are common when trying to prove a point. I tried so hard to not fall into writing on in my essay.
